New User

(1) Download the sample project: test_project.zip. Unzip it to a directory (e.g., c:/temp/GeneNotes_sample_project).

(2) Open the sample project: Menu "File" -> "Open Workspace". In the "Open File" dialog, find and select the file test.gws, and click the button "Open".

(3) You can now play around GeneNotes yourself or follow the instructions below:

  1. Locate the workspace explorer.

  2. Select a gene/EST list in the workspace explorer.

  3. Browse gene annotations

  4. Taking notes while surfing the Internet.

  5. Create a new note for a gene/EST.

  6. Create a note linked to a word file, a PDF file, an image, etc.

  7. Create notes that link genes/ESTs as pairs.

  8. Organize notes by directories.

  9. Edit gene lists.

  10. Customize the interface.
