(a) Installation instructions for Windows XP:
You can choose one of the following ways
(1) Suggested: If you are the administrator of your computer, download the installation file GeneNotes.msi.
Double click GeneNotes.msi after download it. The program will guide you through the installation
procedure. If installation succeeds, a shortcut to GeneNotes will be added to the desktop of your computer.
(2) Alternative: If you are not the administrator, download file: GeneNotes_Release.zip.
Unzip GeneNotes_Release.zip to a directory. The decompressed files
include GeneNotes.exe. Launch GeneNotes.exe to use GeneNotes.
(b) NOT SUPPORTED ANY MORE. Installation instructions for Windows 2000:
Note: If you have the version for
Windows 2000 on your computer, you can use GeneNotes.msi,
which is smaller and quicker to download.
(1) Download GeneNotes installation file: GeneNotesSetup.zip.
(2) Unzip GeneNotesSetup.zip. You will find five files: dotnetfx.exe,
MDAC_TYP.exe, GeneNotes.msi, settings.ini, and GeneNotesInstaller.exe.
(3) Run GeneNotesInstaller.exe, which will guide you through the installation
procedure. If installation succeeds, a shortcut to GeneNotes will be added to the desktop of your computer.
(c) Un-installation
instructions:
Important:
If you have been using the note database file comes with the installation file,
you must back it up. The un-installation procedure will delete all the GeneNotes
related files setup by the installation file.
Note: If
you use GeneNotes_Release.zip, you do not need to
uninstall GeneNotes because GeneNotes_Release.zip does not
register GeneNotes with your operating system.
To uninstall
(1) In the Windows Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
(2) In the Add/Remove Programs dialog box, select GeneNotes and
click Remove.
(3) Click OK to close the dialog box.
